THE LONG VERSION

I started my career shooting photos of drunk people in dark rooms lit solely by strobing, epilepsy inducing lights, sufficiently buzzed myself. Well, actually I started by taking photos of my dolls drinking tea in my attic… alone… BUT, pay no mind to that… ehem, where was I… I started shooting living things (that weren’t my cat) when I was old enough to use a fake ID to get into a club and pretend to be the photographer. I faked my way through the nightlife scene ruthlessly until I was at the pinnacle of the wildest underground after parties one could imagine attending on the east coast in the early 2010’s. I still don’t believe some of the stuff I’ve seen… and then I remember I have photographic evidence. I shot nightlife events every day, and sometimes back to back on the same night. After I really taught myself how to use the camera -- and I am not going to lie – that was almost a full year into my nightlife photography career, I became obsessed with figuring out how to break through the basic photos that were being taken in abundance at the club. You know the ones with half naked girls, and dudes puffing out their freshly shaved chests, don’t get it twisted — they were still at the events, and I shot them, but they were at least soaked in color and cool in-camera techniques. I taught myself how to make the image move. I embedded deeply in the nightlife scene for years until I felt an undeniable urge to pursue my next endeavors (and make a livable wage) so I simultaneously got into journalistic photography working for every single magazine/paper that existed in the city AND shooting my own large scale fashion editorials. I've always been obsessed with the weirdos, the fashion outliers, the Steven Klein’s and the David LaChappele's who fought the status quo of the hive mind. Oh, that reminds me, I recently had my Hungarian grandmother join me on the set of one of my large scale fashion campaigns. With a crew of over 40 people, I thought, this will SURELY put her at ease about my career path after all these years, and nope, she is still my side agent trying to hustle my services to all her hometown friends. today i work under the company g i z e l l a branding and creating for badass humans WITH AN AMAZING CREW OF ARTISTS I ADMIRE.
